Oct 2 Great Fishing
I'm really busy, so this has to be pretty short... We started out King Mackerel Fishing and right off the bait we had a 25+ pounder sky on a live Menhaden. He missed. Then he skied again. Missed again. Damn..... A few seconds later, the water split and the majestic King soared Skyward with the hapless Menhaden firmly in his jaws. Chewing on wire, plain as day.... When he hit the water, we waited for the reel to scream! Nothing! Evidently he had knocked the bait off the rig on the final jump.... It was looking good. We were going to kill the Kings.... Then the Amberjacks came. And they came in sworm. And King Fishing was over! This crew caught Kings last year.... They liked the Amberjacks! Pete landed a big one at 50". Pete landed another just a tad smaller.... Everybody caught at least one Amberjack. After we spent a few hours with the Jacks and their friends, we ran inshore and found the MOTHERLODE of RED DRUM. Pete had never caught a North Carolina Red Drum and we quickly took care of that.... Tom, Pete, and Mary each caught at least one Red Drum and I think Pete got three of them. Total Catch for the Day: 6 Amberjacks up to 50 lbs, 1 Albacore at 14 lbs, 1 Barracuda at 25 lbs, 1 Sharpnose Sharks at 12 lbs, 8 Red Drum from 6 to 8 lbs, and 8 Bluefish from 1-2 lbs

Thanks again Capt. Marty....you never fail to put us on a great bite one way or another. Another super day on the Topwater !!!!
We're all sore today from battling all those Amberjack !!!
Hey Tom. I'm locked in the toilet at PetsMart in Knightdale. My transmission fell out near Raleigh this morning. Luckily it didn't happen yesterday morning on the way to the boat ramp! Unfortunately, I might not make it to the mountains......
Tom,
Let me know if you liked eating those fish. I'm always interested in other people's opinions. Especially the Barracuda. The last time I ate it, it was delicious....
